When I entered the stairwell I pulled out my phone to call Barb before even reaching the building’s exit. She answered on the first ring.

“Hey! Learn anything new?” she asked me eagerly.

“Yes, listen! I just met with Presley who admitted to having an affair with the Mayor, and she also insinuated that he was keeping something shady on his computer, and she basically gave me all the information we need to hack into it. So, guess what we’re doing tonight?!”.

I could hear her gasp and she shouted “Have you told Frankie yet? Should we meet you there or get together for coffee first?” she asked, hoping I would say coffee.

I took a second before I responded as I walked down the front steps, lowering my voice, and looking around before replying “No… Presley told me that Frankie was the one who gave her the last-minute pie… but didn’t she already submit a pie that night? The one she was making at my house the night before. Presley said it looked like it had a white filling, like pear”.

Barb immediately responded, “Or angel trumpet!”, a light chuckle echoed through the speaker. Barb didn’t seem to think that was something to be concerned with, but I wasn’t so sure. How well do we really know Frankie, anyway?

Stop, you know Frankie.

I told her to meet me at my shop in fifteen minutes. “Don’t tell Frankie anything yet, let’s meet first to talk more”, I told her.

“Ok perfect, I have some news for you, too!”.
